Baby It's Cold Outside!

Brrrrr. It has been impossibly cold out the last few days which is not good news for a cold blooded girl like me. I have been trying to bundle up accordingly. However, I have, so far, refused to wear my winter coat of the last 2 years as it was bought in a no so fashionable part of my life. In short, it's an asparagus green, marshmallow of a coat that's not so hot. However, I haven't been so hot either, due to the fact that I have no winter jacket.

So, I've been browsing the net all month looking for some good coats, trying to refrain from anything that resembles any kind of sugary treat. I've decided that I would prefer something that was either nice and colourful, or a lovely dark grey. Very classic. Here are a few that I've absolutely fallen in love with...

1. The Grey-t Cape-r Coat (Modcloth.com)
2. Sergeant of Style Jacket (Modcloth.com)
3. Colonel Mustard Coat (Modcloth.com)

I really love the lines of these coats, very straight and elegant. (Also the cape on the 1st coat can be taken off!) I know the second one is asparagus green, but I find that I actually really like the colour so long as it's not in a marshmallow form. Also it was love at first sight when I saw the lovely ochre colour of the 3rd coat! It's definitely my favorite!

Stay warm!

Beautiful Beautiful Shoes

Vintage shoes. or shoes of any sort, what girl can say that she isn't in love with them?
I have definitely got shoes on the brain.
It's something I can't seem to help. Walking through the mall, browsing thrift stores, or surfing the net, shoes are (not so sadly!) a weakness of mine.

Here are 4 pairs of shoes that I would just LOVE to have! Especially the boots!
This is my Christmas Shoe Wishlist!

1. Salvatore Ferragamo Shoes (Adore Vintage)
2.Old School Loafers
(Adore Vintage)
3.The Nottingham Boots
(Modcloth)
4.During Holiday Baking Boots
(Modcloth)

St. Vincent

A couple of weekends ago when I was looking around a record store on Queen St. I discovered the record "marry me" by St. Vincent. I'd never heard of her before but something about her drew me in. Anyways I wrote down her name and decided to look her up when I got home. Later, I was delighted to find that she was not only an amazing and incredibly interesting artist (if not a little kooky) that had worked with several of my favorite musicians, but that she also had an amazing sense of style.

I absolutely adore her simple yet elegant style. She seems to like mixing different textures in muted tones, which is something that I find really beautiful. I also adore the vintage feel she sticks to.
My favorite songs by her are:
Paris is Burning,
Marry Me, &
The Strangers
By the way, her stuff is definitely a little different, kind of experimental.
Enjoy!

My Style Icon

These last couple days I have been trying to decide just who inspires me (concerning all that is fashionable). Then today, as I sat watching "Yes Man", I came to the conclusion that Zooey Deschanel is most definitely my fashion icon. Not only is she in a rockin' band, but she also has an impeccible taste in clothing. I seem to recall that the first thing I said about her in "The Happening" was "I LOVE WHAT SHE IS WEARING"...
The horror of nature induced suicide was lost in my love of her jacket.
That is good fashion. :)

She has this really vintage look that I absolutely adore: she keeps it simple, comfortable, and understated, which I think makes her stand out more than if she went really intense with it. She takes classic, vintage pieces, and turns them into something that is incredibly beautiful and super inspiring.

I love it!

To Begin...

Well...

I started this blog because I adore being creative and applying that creativity to fashion and the like. I thought that if I put my scattered thoughts about such things together in a blog, something beautiful may emerge.

So, though it is blatantly obvious that I have never, ever blogged before, I'm going to try my hardest to do a good job.

Here I go!

I just recently discovered this website "Adore Vintage" and after perusing for a couple minutes found out that it is simply overflowing with amazingly beautiful vintage dresses, skirts, etc. Also there are really inspiring articles about vintage fashion and fashion designers . Today I was incredibly overjoyed to find the following outfit in the post "Bohemian Love: 5 outfits to inspire your Inner hippie". I thought the colours and patterns of all the different pieces work together perfectly and I especially LOVE the embroidered flower detail on the shirt. It's really whimsical and just perfect.
If I could where anything I wanted tomorrow this would definitely be it.
